Today we celebrate the International Day of Education,  sharing the latest news from Standing Committee for Gender Equality in Science (SCGES),  established in September 2020.

A new Webinar Series will be launched this year. A motivation for this event is the possibility of taking advantage of the global and interdisciplinary structure of the Committee. The aim of the Webinar Series is to create exchanges and interactions related to issues around the Gender Equality in Science among various scientific communities.

Six to nine sessions of the SCGES webinar series will be organized in 2022, with SCGES partners taking turns in organizing them.

The first session will take place on Wednesday February 16th, 2022, at 4 pm to 6 pm CET. It is organized by the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and the International Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM), two founding unions of SCGES, on the topic of Gender Equality in Mathematics. Speaker Colette Guillopé will present the results of the Gender Gap in Science project on mathematics and applied mathematics. Speakers Linda Rothschild, Cathy Kessel, and Kathryn Leonard will talk about the 50 years of activities of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and its efforts and success to reduce the gender gap.

The Webinar will be held online. Attendants are expected to register to get the details to attend the event.

Here is the page for the event on February 16th, 2022 and the registration form: https://gender-equality-in-science.org/event/scges-webinar-february-16th-2022/

The second session organized by GenderInSite will present the report “Gender Equality in Science: Inclusion and Participation of Women in Global Science Organizations, Results of two global surveys”.
