This meeting was the launch of University Women Europe’s new NFA series, featuring a presentation by Susanna Sulkunen from the Finnish Federation of Graduate Women.
Susanna shared details about their organization’s history, current activities, and challenges, including their 830 members across 17 local branches, focus on gender equality in education and working life, and support for migrant women through government-funded projects.
The discussion covered their efforts to attract younger members through student membership categories and social media presence, while acknowledging difficulties in integrating migrant women due to different priorities and membership requirements.
Participants also discussed potential collaboration opportunities, including joint campaigns on the EU Pay Transparency Directive and Istanbul Convention ratification, as well as the Finnish federation’s work on gender-based segregation and equality issues in Finland.
