Application Requirements:
Applicants must submit the following:
- A Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A recent photo
- A motivational letter confirming the candidate’s willingness to accept the position if elected at the AGM
- A letter of support from a National Federation/Association (NFA)
Candidates will be required to give a 5-minute presentation introducing themselves and their motivation during the UWE AGM, which will take place on 6-9 November 2025 in Naples, Italy.

Profile of the Ideal Candidate for President:
The ideal UWE President is an experienced and committed woman who has been active within her National Federation/Association (NFA) or a similar organization. She is familiar with the European landscape on gender equality and motivated to advocate for equal opportunities for women and men in all areas of society.
She enjoys working in a European team, is willing to travel occasionally, and ideally does not hold an official position in her own NFA, to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
Professional and Personal Requirements:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); French is an asset, as both the European Women’s Lobby and the Council of Europe operate partly in French;
- Proficiency in digital tools (e.g., Skype, WordPress, Facebook)
- Experience with collective governance
- Knowledge of the European Union and the Council of Europe
- Should be prepared and count on a time investment of the 40 to 60 hours a month
Tasks of the UWE President:
- Coordinate the task division in the UWE Board
- Prepare the Agenda for Board meetings and the Annual General Meetings incooperation with the UWE Secretary
- Chair the General Meeting and the Board meetings
- Represent the UWE for internal and external relations
- Support the organisation committee of the annual UWE event
- Monitor the annual selection of the special awards offered by UWE
- Keep in touch with the Steering Group European Projects
Profile of the Ideal Candidate for Secretary General:
The Secretary General is a key member of the UWE Board and plays a central role in ensuring the smooth operation, democratic governance, and transparency of the organisation. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of professional expertise and strong interpersonal skills, along with a deep commitment to gender equality.
Professional and Personal Requirements:
- Legal knowledge (preferred);
- Experience in office administration, preferably in an umbrella organisation;
- Familiarity with processes and procedures in women’s organisations;
- Background in working within a women’s organisation;
- Commitment to promoting the interests of women and girls, especially graduate women;
- Strong competence in teamwork and networking;
- Honesty and integrity in working with the UWE Board and members;
- High level of eloquence in speech and writing;
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of French and/or German is an asset;
- Ability to respond to new ideas with common sense and sound judgment;
- Availability of 8–12 hours per week to dedicate to UWE affairs;
- Willingness and ability to invest part of her own means, if necessary.
Key Responsibilities of the Secretary General:
- Preparing the UWE Annual Report, Board meetings, AGM agenda and minutes, and organising webinars;
- Ensuring the observation of democratic principles and procedures within UWE;
- Monitoring transparency and adherence to the rule of law;
- Safeguarding the UWE Constitution, and ensuring compliance with by-laws and internal rules;
- Exercising due diligence in all UWE actions and projects;
- Contributing to the President’s Annual Report with verified information and records;
- Managing public relations, including writing and publishing updates on the UWE website, the digital newsletter, and social media;
- Maintaining and updating the UWE archives, and preparing the transfer of records to the Archives Centre in Amsterdam at the end of the mandate;
- Committing to an estimated 40–60 hours per month.
